Mechanical & Electrical
Our integrated mechanical & electrical contractor skills were put to the test working with Saltash on the Hidden Homes project, an innovative programme engineered to transform unused or empty spaces into social housing.
Part of Southwark Council’s plan to add new residential flats to existing blocks in Camberwell, this creative project found space for 5 additional homes within the borough’s Marchwood House, Redbridge House and Bentley House. The project required integrated mechanical & electrical service delivery including gas installation, domestic hot & cold water installation, electrical wire installation, fitting of sanitaryware and fitting of kitchen appliances.
The Challenge: Time & Budget
Southwark Council needed its new Hidden Homes to be turned around quickly to meet housing demand. At Environtech we are extremely experienced at delivering specialist M&E services on conversion projects within existing residential schemes and so were able to push integrated works at pace, enabling Saltash to benefit from ease, simplicity and cost saving throughout the programme.
The Results: Smooth & Cost Efficient
Integrated mechanical & electrical installation and testing services were delivered within the 5 new hidden homes. The Environtech team completed a handover to the highest snag free standard:
- Heating installation
- Gas connection & installation
- Full plumbing
- Domestic hot & cold water
- Electrical wire installation
- LD2 smoke alarm installation
- Fixed wire testing
- Fitting of sanitaryware
- Fitting of kitchen appliances
“We were pleased at how smoothly the mechanical & electrical programme ran. Hidden homes can be challenging, often you don’t know what you’re dealing with until the build begins. I can’t fault Environtech, they were happy to address challenges as they arose and fast to respond. They always had the team on site when we needed them and got the job done to the highest standard.”Paul Barnwell, Contracts Manager, Saltash
