Project Value

Harlow District Council

The Project

Delivery of lateral mains renewal and communal lighting refurbishment at 1-36 The Risdens has been completed. Working on behalf of Durkans, the Environtech team delivered a complete renewal to lateral mains within apartments in The Risdens Estate, a project of work that was part of larger Repair & Maintenance programme for Harlow District Council.

Our team was proud to help Durkan deliver Harlow District Council’s works, with a programme of complete electrical services including lateral mains renewal to 18 existing flats and improvements to communal lighting that have transformed the shared spaces within this residential building.

The Challenge: Insufficient Supply

The Risdens, a residential social housing building in Harlow, had suffered ongoing issues with existing lateral mains and insufficient supply to the block.  In addition to this, communal lighting was poor, creating an unwelcoming environment for residents.  As part of the refurbishment project the Environtech team installed new lateral mains to increase supply, and overhauled communal lighting within the building.  Addressing issues with incorrect lux levels and switching to LED lighting to provide Harlow District Council with a more cost-effective solution.

The Results: Regeneration Success

Complete electrical installation and testing services were delivered within the Durkan Harlow District Council project.

  • Lateral mains renewal to 18 flats
  • Communal area lighting
  • LED change over
  • Fixed wire testing

Mitchell Smith, Quantity Surveyor, Durkan, said: “The Environtech team brought an exceptional level of electrical expertise to this refurbishment programme of works for Harlow District Council.  Overcoming challenges associated with insufficient supply and incorrect lux, working considerately with residents in situ, and completing all works on time and on budget. Over the years I have worked with Environtech on several projects, and each time they impress me with their professionalism and can-do attitude.”
